Learning to record keystrokes on the VersaKey is a simple 4 step procedure. Most people will be up and recording to their SAK keys in a couple minutes. After a couple of weeks it is very common for a person to record a 20 or 30 step sequence to one SAK key without even giving it much thought and definitely saving themselves time and keystrokes.
The VersaKey requires no software to run. It is recognized by your computer as a standard 101 keyboard. The VersaKey is self contained so that it's recording ability and saving functions are within the keyboard itself. There is free software that is available for windows operating systems that will allow you to backup and restore your keystroke recording as well as the ability to transfer your recordings to another VersaKey. This software is not necessary for your VersaKey to function with your computer ONLY to backup and restore your keystroke recordings.
VersaKey will work with ALL PC operating systems. Dos; Windows (all); Linux; Unix. As far as your computer, operating system, and technical support people are concerned, this is just another standard 101 keyboard. But OH what a Keyboard!!!
Most people can be surprised by how much repetitive work they actually do at the computer. They feel that since they don't fill out forms or type letters, or even access software files much, that they don't have repetition. However when they stop and take inventory of what they are doing on the computer during one day, or during a whole week, they begin to see how much repetition can be involved. By using the VersaKey they can reduce that repetition of keying or mouse clicking and let the SAK keys do it for them. Saving time, increasing production, and possibly avoiding stress injury.
Sorry there is only this world wide ergonomic standard keyboard style. Although a split style keyboard may help some in the ergonomic area, there is much debate as to how much. The VersaKey is built to meet world wide ergonomic standards. We have had some people stop using the VersaKey to go to a split keyboard only to RETURN to the VersaKey because of the VersaKey doing the repetitive keystrokes for them. The little bit of comfort they received from the split style keyboard did not come close to the benefits they felt they received from the VersaKey.
The vast majority of technical support people we have worked with, when they find out that the VersaKey is no harder to support than a standard 101 keyboard, and that there is no software that has to be put on the computer or system to use the keyboard, are okay with having the VersaKey around. In fact there are a few IT people who have insisted on having them for all the computer entry work that they support because they can program the VersaKey so that the end user only has to press certain SAK keys to do their work, thus eliminating end user mistakes. Also since the VersaKey is compatible with every computer from the old 8088s to the fastest PC's of today, you have a hardware solution that will outlast the computer itself.
There is a software that is available that you can load into windows that will allow you to backup and restore your "template" (keystroke recordings). The software takes very little room on the hard drive or LAN and yet adds the security of being able to restore your keystroke recording if something should happen. Also the software can be used to optimize certain settings on the VersaKey for the end user.
The VersaKey has a one year manufacturer's warranty on parts and labor. The Versakey can easily last for 7 to 10 years of daily use. In fact some of the VersaKeys that have been in use for over 8 years are still going strong with just a cleaning and an eprom upgrade.
Give us a call. Drop us an email. We have people available in some areas who can do a demonstration for you and talk to you about how you would use the VersaKey. If you are in an area that we do not have a demonstration rep. we can possibly make arrangements for you to demo a VersaKey to see how it works.
